Lead PHP Developer £45-55k, London

Our client is a creative agency with a focus on social media, and they are looking for Lead PHP developer with Linux system administration skills to take ownership of the digital/back-end side of their business and grow a team and manage a network of freelancers.

We are looking for somebody with excellent leadership and technical skills with a passion for all things digital (web, social media and mobile).

Specifically, we’re currently looking for a PHP developer with Linux system administration skills from managing LAMP stacks.

The major responsibilities of the Senior PHP Developer will be:

• Leading a team of Web developers to design, develop, and debug Web applications
• Using creativity to innovate new products (widgets, wizards, tools, controls) to enhance Web user experience
• Keeping up with new Internet standards and Web technologies (Web 2.0, AJAX, Ruby on Rails, etc.)

Technical requirements:

• Expertise in working with PHP, MySQL, Apache, Postfix, Dovecot (POP3, IMAP), SSH
• Proficiency with front-end scripting including: HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX
• Hands-on experience with web application architecture and relational database design
• Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing (SEM)
• Knowledge of open-source CMS platforms WordPress, Drupal, Concrete 5
• Exposure to other server-side scripting languages such as JSP, ASP, CFM
• Exposure to object-oriented languages such as Java and Microsoft .NET
• Familiarity with the LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
• Knowledge of best practices for cross-platform, cross-browser compatibility
• Professional experience building database-driven web applications and websites

General Requirements

• 3+ years professional web development experience
• 1+ years managerial experience
• Computer Science or technical degree preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
• Strong familiarity with Web 2.0 / Social Networking websites

Salary £45-55k, and based in London W1
