Interim Head of Digital Strategy (Charity) c£50k, London

Our client is a national and established charity who are ahead of the curve in their Digital development. In the event the current Head of Digital goes on Maternity Leave in mod-April, there has a arisen a need for an experienced Head of Digital Strategy to fulfill a 9 month contract, leading some exciting continued development and innovation; as well as leading a team with excellent man management and motivation.

As part of the senior management team within the Communications and Marketing department you’ll play a key role in the development of the charity’s strategic approach to communications and marketing, with overall responsibility for our external facing digital channels. Your leadership position in the organisation will see you work alongside senior colleagues from departments such as Fundraising, Campaigns, Policy, Services and Retail on initiatives that will be critical to success, such as:

  • The delivery of the 2012 brand campaign to drive engagement with key stakeholders and underpin the external launch of their new user-generated identity.
  • Devising and delivering a joined-up supporter journey programme across all touch points.
  • Influencing programmes of work to drive operational effectiveness and allow us to realise our strategic aims, including approaches to integrated working practice across the department and wider organisation and approaches to data management.

Leading a team of eight talented and ambitious digital professionals you’ll also be responsible for delivering our organisation wide strategic approach to digital marketing. This includes overseeing programmes of work including:

  • Embedding new content and community engagement strategies and driving changes in organisational culture that will be necessary to underpin these.
  • Delivering the 2012 development roadmap for core digital channels such as the website, intranet and sister sites.
  • Embedding new Email marketing tools and associated governance.
  • Revising our approach to search marketing to reflect changes in organisational priority.
  • Business partnering with key functions such as Fundraising events, Individual giving and Campaigns to support them to achieve their own strategic aims via an agency model of digital service delivery.

An experienced Digital lead with excellent management skills as well as digital strategy, high level of understanding of the importance of accessibility to all in the area of Web UX, and recognition of internal influence and tactfully championing change and innovation is required.

Salary c£50k p/a (pro rata) – based in North London / Islington region – starting at the beginning of April 2012
